Tureya Tureya Ja ... Tureya Tureya Ja!

Friends!
There is neither any past nor anything like future in the time-frame of Nature. The past and the future are just names we have given to the moments of time for our own convenience. Neither there was any 2010, nor there will be any 2011.

It is only this moment with us, in our hand. It is up to us how we live it.
Just relish the life peacefully creating no nuisance.

Hate None
Love Everyone!
… and … just go on.

OM Shanti    Shanti    Shanti

Guru-Bhakti (8)

Dear Friends!
I am again with you discussing ‘Guru-Bhakti’. In my first post I discussed about three categories of Guru needed for progress in the field of spirituality. (a)One’s own intellect (b)Any person in a human form(c) Any Scripture.
In my previous two posts I discussed about scriptures.

Friends!
In search of a Guru he started his journey from a village of Kerala to the remote hills of Himalayas and found him there. The Guru made him adept in every branch of knowledge and blessed him with his spiritual powers. And he, with the blessings of his Guru and his own sharp intellect, brought to light the hidden meaning of Geeta, Upnishadas and Braham-Sutras.

I pay my regards to him.

He was a poor Brahmin from Kerala whom the world knows as Adi Shankaracharya. His commentary on Geeta, Upnishadas and Braham-Sutras made him Acharya.

In Aryavarta there is a tradition that unless and until a scholar propounds a new thought with commentary on Prasthan-Trayi(Geeta, Upnishadas and  Brahm-Sutras), one cannot get entitled as Acharya.
It was not so like these days that every school-teacher or any yoga-trainer is entitled as Acharya. Someone are self-declared ones also.

Based on Vaidic knowledge and Upnishadic truth he established such a strong foundation of the principle of Advaita(non-dual) Vedanta that it cannot be even shaken. And with the help of his commentary on Prasthaan-Trayi he elaborated his principle so intelligently that all other schools of thought lost their glittery.

Advaita-Vedanta is considered a lion amongst other schools of thought.
Adi Shankar set such an example of a pious relationship between Guru and Shishya by spreading his Guru’s message throughout his life through his work of intellect and organizational skill that is found nowhere in the history and that was also the need of hour. The system organized by Adi Shankar played an important role in the uplift of golden principles of Sanatana Dharma.

Giving a basis of Vaidic principles he established four ‘maths’ in each direction of Aryavarta.
Ayam Atma Braham
Pragyaanam Braham
Aham Braham Asmi
Tat Twam Asi

In the company of his Guru an aspirant gets knowledge of Vedas, Upnishadas and through his austerity and renunciation of worldly desires attains supreme knowledge of ‘pure self’.
The Guru, from his experience, tells to his disciple, “Aham Braham Asmi(I am the Ultimate truth).” And again without a gap of a single moment, just simultaneously tells him, “Tat Twam Asi(Thou art That).” While uttering this ultimate truth the Guru is not talking about this mortal body but the blissful state of consciousness he is enjoying. Listening to this ‘mahavakya’ the Ultimate Truth regains its shine in the consciousness of the disciple.

And he repeats as a resonance of a right note on the tuned strings of Veena, “Aham Braham Asmi. Tat Twam Asi.” He is not just repeating the words of his Guru but expressing an ecstatic experience he is passing through in the company of his revered Guru. Thus happens the transmission of the lamp.

Undoubtedly the experience is subjective and has nothing to do with any dogma but the presence and need of a Guru is inevitable. Nothing can happen without the help of an enlightened Guru in form of a human being so far as the field of Spirituality is concerned.

Again, coming to the point what can an enlightened Guru do only, if there is no competence in the disciples. And if a competent disciple is there, where is the enlightened Guru to transmit the lamp?

Earlier, there used to be shops of Gurudom but now bigger malls of Gurudom are there not enlightened with the knowledge of self-realization but with neon-lights of advertisements to attract the innocent aspirants of truth and exploit them any way they can be.

Is it a state of hopelessness?

No one knows, perhaps.

OM TAT SAT!

Guru Bhakti (7)

Friends

In the field of science and technology things can be said with perfection. Devices can work rather only perfect rules and devices do work. If such and such is the action, such and such will be its reaction. But in the world of religion it is impossible to say that this technique, this device or this ‘jugat’ or this ‘yukti’ can lead you to the Ultimate Goal, the inner self, the universal truth. This is a hard task. Even then the compassionate persons who have attained their ultimate goal try their best to guide the mankind, to invent any fool-proof technique of meditation or self-realization keeping in mind the men of their times and those of to come.

Cycle of time is always on run. People come and go. Psyche of the people and society change from time to time according to socio-economic developments and political changes.

Whatsoever may be the condition of the society, rich or poor; one suffering is always there in common that is spiritual quest.

“O Lord, give me money! Give me son! Give me a life free of diseases! Give me a status! Give me this! Give me that! Give me, give. . . . give and give.”

This is not a prayer.

The prayer is,” O Lord, forgive me! It is enough. Now I seek refuge in thee.”

And He listens and fulfils it.

After every sun rise it sets.  Night comes with cold and darkness as its components. Shivering and trembling ‘Jeevatmas’ pray the Almighty to come for their rescue. And the merciful Universal Nature never ignores a prayer coming from heart.

Mankind was shivering with chilled human approach of society. Looting, selfishness and an empire constructed on superstitions was dominating.

Tyrant rulers were killing innocents. Trembling with fear the mankind was praying to Him.

Taa dar suni pukaar. . . .”
“Meghe nu furmaan hoya . . . . Varso kirpa dhaar”

And this happened.

The mercy of Universal Nature or Supreme power assumes form from time to time to bring erring humanity back to the correct path. It incarnates choosing a form, place and time. The form and nature It takes depends on the cause and circumstances. The ultimate purpose of an incarnation is always the re-establishment of right values, of Dharma in the world.

A beam of His mercy incarnated on Earth in human form as a hope.

This beam of mercy adopted the name of Nanak.

Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was there to save the suffering mankind. With his arrival there was a warmth in human relations, his message of ‘Ik Omkaar. . . .” illuminated the minds of people filled with superstitions.

Guru (Gu+Ru) is a person who expels away the darkness of ignorance and illuminates you with the light of knowledge.

This light got transmitted from first to second and from second to third and so on. Persons changed but the ‘jyoti’ was very same, Guru Nanak Jyoti.

The same ‘jyoti’ was there in the form of Shri Guru Gobind Singh the 10th Guru with the passage of time.

When Guru Gobind Singh Ji was playing the last part of his role on this Earth, he saw that the coming time was not for a Guru to be in human form.
Here was a time when he blessed the mankind with his infinite mercy and declared the “Adi Granth’ as a Guru of sikhs after him. Rather not only of the Sikhs but the mankind as a whole. The ‘Adi Granth’ is a collection of the ‘amrit Vaani’ uttered by the Gurus of his lineage and other bhaktas compiled by the ‘Nanak Jyoti’ in its fifth form under the name of Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji.

All of us who are aspirants of the ’ultimate truth’ are Sikhs (shishyas or disciples). And the ‘Adi Granth’ to whom with reverence we call ‘Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji’ is our guru.
Every word written in this scripture is a drop of nectar. Even if anyone is unable to understand the meaning of its some difficult verses, one fills with integrity and a state of ecstasy just by its (gurbani’s) recitation. Even if someone is unable to read just listening to it takes you to a realm of bliss.

And this is not an exaggeration.

Just come, listen to the divine keertan and you will see that you are getting changed from inside. Your ego starts to melt and you bow before the Guru by itself.

My salutations to the gurus of the Nanak lineage and its culmination Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as this lineage mercifully directs the mankind to attain the Ultimate Self and tells that it can be attained only by. . . . ‘gurprasaad’.

Om Shanti!   Shanti!!   Shanti!!!

Guru Bhakti (6)

Dear Friends

When Lord Krishna decided to leave his mortal body and informed Uddhava about it, Uddhava asked him , “Dear Krishna where will it be possible to see you and have divine guidance from after you ? ” Krishna said , “Dear Uddhava! You are a jnani (gyani). You know each and everything . You are asking this just for the welfare of mankind. Listen, I will be available to everyone in form of ‘Sri madbhaagwat mahapuraanam’. You can find me and have guidance from there. But, as people could not recognize me in this human form again they will not be able to find me in ‘Sri madbhaagwat mahapuraanam’. Someone who has some deep insight will be able to find me and recognize me there. Otherwise people will read or listen stories, take prasaadam and will leave for their homes”.

Friends, that is the first example found in history of mankind that some divine personality has put itself in form of a scripture and became a light-house.

Why did Krishna do so ?.

“Because in Kaliyuga it will be almost impossible to find a genuine Guru and people will get misled and misguided and misused by the Gurus in human form”. Krishna told Uddhava.

The very scene is in our sight nowadays.

Gurus, Babas, Swamis and Bapus.

So many anushthaans of ‘Sri madbhaagwat mahapuraanam’ and no result is seen in the society.

The Katha-vaachaks are busy in collecting money, building ashrams, giving mantras. Big temples, bigger temples, more temples; but where is the peace of mind, harmony in society, philanthropic approach ?

Someone in crying injured on the road and you are in a hurry to attend your satsang session of ‘Art of Living’.

What this Art of Living is of use?

Tsunami hit people were crying for help. No shelter, no food, no medicine was there. One of our present God-men went there. Then a rumour spread that an other tsunami is on its way and this god-man combed his hair and fled towards a safe place, leaving behind crying humanity.

He had every right to save his life. But what about those people for whom he had gone there ?.

Wasn’t it just a publicity stunt ?.

So, please respect your own intellect first.

Again, Krishna left himself in ‘Sri madbhaagwat mahapuraanam’.

Though his teachings are available in ‘Sri Madbhagwat Geeta’ also. He said he will be found in ‘Sri madbhaagwat mahapuraanam’ in toto.

Innocent people are listening and Swamies and Goswamis are telling stories, singing bhajans, distributing prasaadam and that's all. They are there to fill their wallets.

“……………………………………………………………………………….
Kaarita Kan Lobhen , Katha Saarh Tato Gatah.”

Though telling and listening ‘Sri madbhaagwat mahapuraanam’ has just turned to be a dogma , but a heart full of love can even now find Lord Krishna there.

“Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum!”.
          -----          -----       -----       -----        -----        -----        -----        -----
The universal nature is full of mercy. When people forgot its divine message another rivulet of its mercy incarnated and is flowing as a divine river to refresh human consciousness.

A scripture whose each and every word is pious , its just recitation fills you with integrity and ecstasy is with us to show the path to the bewildered humanity.

We will have a glimpse of this Great Blessing in any other post soon.

Guru Bhakti (5)

Dear Friends

Surrender! Surrender to your Guru. But is it easy ? So easy ? Our ego never melts. To trust a living teacher is full of danger. And in this age where Nityanands are torch - bearers.

When our own mind is not stable, how can we trust any other one?
A deep trust is needed for a living master and that is not so easy.

Again there comes the point that one’s own wisdom is to be followed first.

Now, when wisdom will take decision then doubts are sure to be there. And a living teacher is hundred percent just like us. He eats, sits, talks, walks and lives like us. Where lies the difference ?

Friends, I wrote in my previous post also that if your awareness increases being in contact with the chosen Guru; then you are on the right path and with a right person. If tranquility and peace increase you are with the right person. If you are getting out of the Tamas you are with the right person.

And the right person will demand nothing from you ; no money, no service and not even surrender. Because right person is never empty. I am not talking about worldly things. He may be penniless. Rather, he will be so. But he will be full of compassion, blessings, love and pure consciousness.

But friends, beware! Babas are there to befool you. Swamis are there to make sex. Bapus are there to misguide you in every way. There is a saying – Better alone than in a bad company.

When find a Guru follow him, follow the way. The universal nature has set a software in you that will automatically tell you whether you are with a right person or not.

Trust is not a quality that you have to cultivate. It is there in you.

You never distrust your mother. Never . Has anybody told you to trust your mother ? No , it is there. By nature it is there.

So, you will have a mother like feeling with a right person. Safe, secure, full of warmth and unconditional love.

If such a Guru is there. Surrender!

But it will happen spontaneously. You will not have to surrender, but the surrender will happen. You will feel something has started melting in you.

When you are with a right person, half of the journey has been completed.

May He help you in your journey.

Guru Bhakti (4)

Dear Friends

Though everyone thinks he acts according to his own wisdom but there are rare persons who do so.  One’s instincts , one’s desires, wishes take a shape of different thoughts and one thinks he is following one’s wisdom, awareness. The lust, the greed, the jealousy come in guise of different thoughts.

I mentioned in my first post Guru-Bhakti (1/10) that to act according to one’s own wisdom is just like to walk on razor’s edge. This way is totally the path of intelligence.

Most people find it difficult and there comes the need of a Guru who is in human form who may guide him.

On the first, it is one’s good luck that one gets a person with selfless motives and full of pure knowledge.

There is a prevalent thought in the field of spiritualism that when a disciple is ready, the Guru comes to help him as a shower of rain automatically fills a pit. That is why Guru is considered ‘a cloud full of blessings’, that quenches the spiritual thirst of a disciple. In this age of Kaliyuga we see a crowd of Gurus that are ready to show the path, what path they don’t know, to whom they want to guide is not known to them. The electronic media has produced a ‘band of Gurus’.

I am not condemning anyone; but most of them are story-tellers, katha-vaachaks.

They are there to set a record that they tell stories in aeroplanes, in ships and on the ground. As if story told in an aeroplanes has some better quality than that told on earth. All of these are tricks of ego. People follow these ‘Bapus’. When you are ready to become disciple they are already there to become Gurus.

But first decide what is your goal ?

Do you want to meet your real self or are just deceiving yourself ?

Now , in this age, when a man is frightened of oneself . One has no trust in himself how can a man trust anyone other. The man of modern age needs a Guru the most. Bewildered man accepts any Tom, Dick and Harry as Guru.

The reason is, this generation is spoon-fed. From very childhood tuitions, career guidance, competitions, references, so called sophistication.

What is there ?

Can a person developed in such an artificial atmosphere has spiritual thirst ! If one has, is it possible for him to get an authentic Guru ?

Then, what to do ? Pray. Just pray. To whom ? Pray to the universal Nature to guide him and there comes the ‘pure consciousness’ in form of a human being to guide you, to accompany you, to take you carefully to your spiritual goal. This man is the Guru. His words will tell, his gestures, his eyes will tell; and now what you have to do.

Surrender! Now surrender totally! But remain alert also. Awareness will increase if you are with the right person and on the right path. Selfless Guru, selfless disciple . The selfless psychic union is called ………. Sharnam Gachchhami !

This psychic union is called Guru-Bhakti!

Om Tat Sat!

Guru Bhakti (3)

Dear Friends

In my previous post I wrote ‘Jai Dutt Guru’ as salutation. This is my pranaam to the Guru of each and every ‘saadhak’ Lord Dattatreya.
Lord Dattatreya is omnipresent ; the most mystic personality , helper of everyone in the field of meditation.
Every ‘saadhak’ can seek his help and he is there to help him but he is most difficult to be recognized even by his dedicated followers.
A ‘saadhak’ of any religion, at any part of this planet remains incomplete in his practices unless and until he gets the blessings of Lord Dattatreya.
Lord Dattatreya is mentioned in Hindu Puranas and other scriptures ; but he has nothing to do with any religion (as we see it in its present forms). He is always there to help a Bhakta, a Jnaani, a Yogi and whosoever wants his spiritual upliftment.
As he is a balanced combination of Sattva, Rajas and Tamas, he is above from Brahma, Vishnu and even Mahesh.
Every sect that knows the importance of its Guru, that knows very well that without Guru nothing is possible ; gets the blessing of Lord Dattatreya. To please him no mantras are required , no flowers, no scents, no bells, not even a single ritual.
He is ‘Smaran Maatren Santushtah’. Just remember him and he is satisfied.
It means just get balanced and your ‘pure consciousness’ is there to bless you with a sense of fulfillment, satisfaction, grace and ecstasy.
The picture we see of Lord Dutt is just a symbol of him. He has no shape , he can obtain any shape.
Yes, wherever he is ; a bonfire is found there. A ‘pious bonfire’ ; a ‘dhooni’ is always there.
Now, what is this ‘dhooni’ ? A fire of pure consciousness where impurity of every kind is burnt.

If one wants to put a picture of Lord Dattatreya to bow before him. He should put it in his pooja room and not in any other room or at shop etc. Ladies must avoid to bow before him.
The friends who have more curiosity to know about ‘Guru-Tattva’ may ask whatsoever they wish.
Again, this is a platform where I talk about Sanatan Dharma according to religious scriptures of Hindu thinking. But it has nothing to do with fanaticism. Advait vedanta as per Aadi Shankar and Upnishdas will remain prominent.

Love to all

Jai Guru Dutt

Guru Bhakti (2)

Dear Friends

Thanks a lot for joining me. One of friends has asked why did I write Jai Guru Dev as salutation, did I recognize a particular man who runs a sect whose followers salute each other saying Jai Gurudev? I said ‘no’.  Not at all. I am not a lover of any particular person. The contemporary person who dyes his hair to look young and charges from people just to tell them how to inhale from left nostril and exhale from the right or vice versa is not worth respecting what to say of reverence.

As I mentioned earlier one’s own awareness and wisdom is to be followed first. Now, who can follow his own awareness? Can a mind full of lust, greed and arrogance etc. follow a pure awareness. The answer is categorically ‘no’. This dust lying on the mirror of consciousness is the basic obstacle, the main hindrance in the way that leads to a pure self.  That pure self is consciousness. Or this can be said also that this consciousness is pure self that has the capacity of becoming one’s Guru. A person who has attained pure consciousness can be someone’s Guru. The words uttered by a person who is pure in a sense mentioned above can also be one’s Guru. So once again I will emphasize to follow one’s own awareness first.

This awareness will tell you about your needs and how these needs can be fulfilled.
I will talk about spirituality, religion, philosophy and mantra-vigyaan. I am here to help suffering humanity, my fellows, the persons who have every worldly luxury with them but are not peaceful. Or who are penniless and sufferers. I am here to help, to share, to celebrate. Come, join and have a taste of consciousness that has no selfish goal.

Guru Bhakti (1)

I bow to my Guru who is eternal and provider of fulfilment to all kinds of my needs.

Guru can never be imposed on anybody by anyone whosoever it may be. Nature , that is the supreme power, has given this glory to every human being that one can choose one’s Guru and adore him as super power and can get each and everything from Guru by having full devotion towards him.

This full devotion towards Guru is called Guru Bhakti.
To visit one’s Guru with Dakshina and other offerings and just to have a mantra from Guru and visit him once a year or fortnightly and doing ‘Dandvat’ Pranams is not Guru Bhakti.
Now who is my Guru it depends upon me.

There are sects which believe only a person in human form can be one’s Guru and another sect completely refuses to do so.

Who is right and who is wrong, it is a futile discussion. I am not here to discuss such silly topics. Sitting at my Guruji’s lotus feet whatsoever I have learnt I want to share with all of you whom I take as my friends. I think there are three types of Gurus. And no one can change these steps if one is free of prejudices. All the three types of Gurus are as below :-

1.  One’s own intellect , wisdom, power of reasoning and awareness.
2.  Any person in form of human being.
3.  Any scripture.

First of all one will have to respect his own wisdom, then comes any person and then is the place of any holy scripture.

According to this choose your Guru. One single can do and all of three  may also do. But if devotion is not there towards one’s intellect, the person you have chosen and the holy scripture you have chosen then none of the three can do.

So, let us take a start. Choose your Guru and pay your full devotion without any spec of doubt!

    Jai Gurudev !
